A school and mission had existed since 1874 as St John's No 2 Schools and Mission Church, in 1904 Holy Trinity was formed from the Failsworth parish, and a building committee established. The church building was consecrated on 14 October 1909. The parish was declared redundant and the church closed in 2007.
