The northern division was established in 1964 to rationalise the Coutaulds Group's textile interests in the north of England. The northern division was primarily composed of Fine Spinners and Doublers (FSD) and Lancashire Cotton Corporation (LCC) factories. All FSD mills began trading as members of Courtaulds Limited Northern Textiles Division on 1 April 1965.
