Mr. Albert Bracegirdle was born at Heyhead, Northern Etchells in 1886 and entered market gardening as his father's apprentice in the 1890s. He drove cart-loads of fruits, flowers and vegetables from Heyhead to Shudehill Market and sold them to greengrocers. He was a market gardener throughout his life.
