Frances Bell's father, Stanhope Bell, was a farmer in Hertfordshire. Many of the photographs are taken at Sissevernes near the village of Codicote where Stanhope Bell farmed from 1905. Frances had two sisters `Renie' Harrison Bell and Violet. Renie was keenly interested in poultry farming and at one time ran a poultry school, the students lodging in the village Frances Bell moved to Blackburn to teach at Notre Dame Convent and later married Wright Robinson (his second wife) Wright Robinson was one time gen secretary of NUDAW and involved in local politics as councillor & Lord May
