Miss K O'Brien of Gorton was Secretary of Longsight Traders' Association. Her mother Mary (nee Walsh) began a grocery business before the First World War at 67 Rochdale Road, Angel Meadow, Manchester. In about 1940 the O'Brien family moved to 19 Ashton Old Road, Ardwick, and the shop later became a Spar grocers.
