The Present Abbott Primary School was opened in 1966. The building in Abbott Street formerly occupied by the school was the seventh school built by the Manchester School Board and was opened in 1878. It was organised in 4 single sex departments for infants and juniors. In 1934 a mixed department for pupils aged eight upwards was organised.
