PLEASE NOTE : Mrs. Redfern does not want any of these photographs exhibited if the names of those in them are to be used - George. Mrs. Redfern, whose maiden name was Blanche Eadie, was born in 1913. She lived at 27, Caythorpe Street, Moss Side, until she moved to her present house in Brentbridge Road in 1941. Until the age of eleven she went to Lloyd Street School (now Greenheys) at the corner of Upper Lloyd Street and Great Western Street. For the first twelve to eighteen months (c. 1918) she remembers that she only went to school part-time - mornings one week and afternoons the next - because the school was being used as a hospital for soldiers returning from the Front. When she was eleven she got a scholarship to Manchester Central High School in Whitworth Street.
