Mr. Cyril Riley - born 1900. Father John Edward Riley. Mother Mary Emma Holsworth. Father worked at 'Cass' in Bury as moulder. Married Martha Davis 1925. Father's side of family came mainly from Halifax - mother's side had relatives in Hull - connection with sea. Cyril Riley served apprenticeship at Spindle and Fly shop in Bolton Street, Bury - making machinery - called Hitchels. Finished 1921. Then worked in transport department in Bury in 1924 - as driver, conductor etc.... Great grandfather (maternal) was a woollen manufacturer and well to do.
