Elizabeth Gamble (donor), born c.1909, was the daughter of William and Lillian Oldham. Private William Oldham (donor's father); born c.1875, died 1959, was in the Territorials and was one of the first to be called up during the First World War. He was in the Transport Section of the Middlesex Regiment. He was out of work for some time after the War and eventually got a job as a miner in Yorkshire but was hit by a full tub of coal and was unable to work again. He received 2/7d per week compensation.
William and Lillian Oldham had 6 children, Edith (b.1898), Harold (b.1901), William (b.1903), Lillian (b.1907), Albert (b.1911) and Elizabeth (donor - b.1909). All the children attended St. Annes School in Denton.
Albert was in the Canadian Air Force, received the B.E.M. and died in Canada in 1959.
