Mrs. Moore's maternal great-grandfather born in Birmingham and eloped to Manchester in the 1870's with a girl fifteen years his junior, they married and he started a tailoring business in the Hulme/Moss Side area, (he eventually had three shops). Mrs. Moore's grandmother (1879) and mother (1899) were born in Manchester and lived all their lives in Hulme/Moss Side, Mrs. Moore's grandmother put to work in the shops hand-stitching button-holes on waistcoats. Mrs. Moore's paternal great great-grandfather was `in cotton' in Manchester. Her great great grandfather and grandfather were solicitors. Her father was a regular soldier and was killed in the First World War aged 39. Mrs. Moore and her daughter now run a florist's in Rusholme. Her husband was killed during the Second World War.
