Mrs. Abbott came to Manchester, from Farborough, in 1918. She was twenty seven years old and had been married for three years. Her husband, Ernest, came to Manchester as General Manager of J.D. Williams & Co., (Mail order service), after working at Selfridges in London and the United States. He died in 1977.
