Mr Johnson was born in Buxton, Derbyshire, in 1899, father came to work in Salford sometime during the first decade of the twentieth century. Mr Johnson left school at 14 and immediately went to work as a tea boy at the Lancashire Dynamo and Crypto Ltd in Trafford Park. He remained there until his retirement in 1964.
