Custodial history:
Mr. Gill's mother, Sarah Anne Preston, was born in Coalbrooke Dale, Shropshire. Her father was a milkman and she was sent into service in Saddleworth, Lancashire
It was there that she met and married Norman Gill (the donor's father), Norman Gill had served his time as a joiner, but had then played the music halls in a group called the Primrose Quartet. Later he bought and built up a joiner and undertaker's business in Droylsden, a business which was carried on by Stanley Gill until his recent retirement. Stanley was born in 1912 and came to Droylsden in 1922.
