Mrs. Rebecca Whittle (donor) daughter of Edward Milne and Alice (nee Speakman): Mr. Milne worked as a coachman at Smithills Hall and at Musgrave Mill, and came from Birkenhead. He was blinded in World War One and died in St. Dunston's Hospital in about 1915. Alice born circa 1875. Family lived in Blackburn Road, Bolton, Halliwell and Smithills. Alice Speakman's parents also lived in Blackburn Road where they ran a coalyard and her father as known as `Squire Speakman'. The Milnes had 3 sons, Edward, George and Frank, and two (?) daughters, Lizzie and Rebecca. Donor born 1900, married Thomas Whittle.
