The donor was born in 1917, and her father Mr. Ogden was a warehouseman at Denvale's Mill, Union Road, Tonge Moor. Her husband, James Robinson, was born in 1905 and his father was a clogger. James' father was orphaned young, and adopted by his uncle, William Crowshaw whom he always called `grandfather'. Crowshaw, too, was a clogger. The family was not well off.
