Hugh Arthur Birley was born on 29 August 1846 in Didsbury. He died on 23 September 1924 in Knutsford, Cheshire. He was the son of Hugh Hornby Birley (1817-1883) and Mabella Baxendale. He married Amy Chichester on 12 November 1874.
Mary Alice Birley was born on 20 July 1844 in Knutsford. She died on 10 March 1908 in Knutsford.
