The donor's father was a pawnbroker in Lower Broughton. His name was John Weir. He had two shops. His daughter, the donor, continued the business until the late 1960s - see tapes. As a child she lived in Kempster Street, Great Cheetham Street, Hanover Gardens and Great Clowes Street (c.1915).
Additional information supplied 16 May 1989: Grace Holthy (nee Weir) was cousin of Annie Tordoff (nee Johnson).
