Donor is the son of a Sephardi, South Manchester family who belonged to the Withington congregation of Spanish and Portuguese Jews. He describes the social life of the south Manchester Sephardi Jewish community. Albert later emigrated to Israel, where he now live He was born in Southport in 1902 to Sephardi immigrant. His parents were from Lebanon and Syria. The family moved to Withington in 1904 and helped found the Synagogue. His father was a textile merchant.
