Depositor born 1902 to Jewish immigrant parents from Cracow and Roumania Her maternal grandfather (see 674/4) was a cigar manufacturer in Cracow and became a fent-dealer in Bury New Road, Manchester. Her father was a tailor at Cohen & Wilkes' water-proofing firm, but was ill, so her mother did outwork (buttonholing) and took biscuits to marke Economic difficulties made the family move from Melbourne Street to `the Buildings'; Minnie ried Eli Cohen, a machiner, also the son of immigrants, and the brother of her mother's brother's wife. Interesting sections on tape on courting, marriage and childbirth.
