David Livshin was born in 1912 in Lancaster Buildings to Jewish immigrant parents from Latvia and Lithuania. They came to Manchester in 1911 but David's father was killed on the Titanic on his way to America in 1912. David's mother Cheena was a sheitel maker. David attended Southall Street school and eventually became a doctor. He married Milly Bor (1948). She was the youngest daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, the 6th child. Her father was a rag merchant. Milly attended the Jews School, Central High and Manchester University.
