Sheila nee Boltiansky was born in 1912 in Cluny Street, Manchester to a Ukranian father and Roumanian mother. Her father had a drapery shop and then became a wholesale cotton merchant. Sheila was the eldest of 2 children. She went to the Jews school, then Central High and Manchester University where she qualified as a teacher. Her parents live for the most part in Elizabeth Street from 1915. Sheila became a teacher at a training college - specialising in English. She married in 1939.
