Mr. Bernard Forster was born in Sosnowice, Poland, in 1898. As a young man he spent a little time in Germany as an apprentice milliner and then emigrated to London, where he arrived in 1913. After working there as a millinery hand and serving in World War I (1916-18) he came to Manchester in 1923 and set up a small-scale millinery manufacturers. Subsequently he became a large-scale clothing manufacturer.
