Mr. Thomas Clegg (father) started work as a wheelwright and when this work became obsolete he went into printing. Eventually he ran his own business. Thomas lived in Radcliffe and married Harriet (nee CLEGG) who was born in Bacup and came back to Radcliffe when young. They had two daughters - Elsie and Olive (donor).
