Mrs. Mabel Jones nee Gore was born in Broughton, Salford in 1899. She worked in Broughton Copper Works after leaving school. Her father was a cabinet maker - well known in the area and was born in 1854. He was called Frederick Gore and his father was a grandfather-clock-case maker. Mabel's mother Hanna Gore, nee Kinder originally came from Cheshire. There were nine children in the family. Mabel married Wilfred Jones in 1939. He was born in 1890 and worked for the post office. His family had a chemical works and, in connection with that, before their marriage, he was in Canada for some years.
