Mrs. Tamar Denson nee Fiddley was born on February 13, 1911. Her father was Donald Fiddley born August 20, 1875 in the Orkneys and he came to Shaw at the age of 2. He ran with his wife, a drapery business in Manchester Road, Hollinwood. Donald had married Annie, nee Brickell on Tuesday 10 September, 1907 at The Primitive Methodist Chapel, Henshaw St She was born in 1881 and came from Oldham. Tamar left school at 16 - was a clerk/telephonist at Failsworth Hats Ltd. and then at Platt Brothers. For the last 15 years before her retirement she was a secretary at St. Margaret's Infants' School.
