Custodial history:
March 1934 saw the beginnings of a new church in the Wythenshawe area. The church began in Hollyhedge farm, until the site for a new building was available. The first service was on Easter day, 1 April 1934, and was conducted by the Bishop of Middleton. A Sunday school was set up at the farm, along with the services on a Sunday. This was the first Sunday school in Benchill and attracted children from all denominations. Services at the farm were very informal. The congregation was large and filled both church rooms in the farm building. In June 1934 a hut was bought and erected next to the farm to hold services in. After 2 years the church hall was finally completed and the congregation moved from Hollyhedge farm into the new building.
