Custodial history:
Christopher A Walls was born in Newton in 1851 and died at New Moston on 1 Decmeber 1924. It appears that he attended Culcheth Sunday School, and after apprenticeship in Manchester he became a bookeeper (probably at the Clayton Bridge Calico Print Works, which was owned by a relative). He finally became Liberal agent for North Salford Manchester. He took an active role in developments in Newton Heath and was involved in the formation of the Newton Heath Library.
