Recites result of commission, 6 Apr 1566, of Richard Assheton of Whalley, Receiver of Queen's Revenues, John Braddyll of Whalley, Queen's Steward and Gilbert Moreton, Queen's Surveyor, to enquire into the state of the church, cost of repair, stipend of vicar and population.
Reports encroachment on Barton Moor, Alvesage Moor and Swinton Moor. Rectory of Eccles formerly belonged to the abbott of Whalley and passed to the crown on the Dissolution of the monasteries. It has been granted to gilbert Gerrard, Attorney general, for a rent of £104-5-3. He has to pay £10-13-4 for the vicars of Eccles and Deane.
Court of Exchequer are to pay John Draddyll the money for the repair of the church.
