Custodial history:
The first Wesleyan chapel was opened in 1807 in what became Lord's Street. Schoolrooms were added in 1841. The church moved to a new building in Liverpool Road in 1873, leaving the Sunday school behind in Lord's Street. The church belonged to Cadishead Wesley Circuit until 1973 when it transferred to the amalgamated Cadishead and Eccles Methodist Circuit. In 1977 the Liverpool Road building was sold and demolished and the church returned to Lord's Street. Services were held in one of the schoolrooms until the new, adjacent church was completed in 1979.
