The society, a break-away group from the Happy Land United Methodist Free Church society, started in around 1874 in the former UMFC church in Moss Lane It was part of Manchester 2nd Wesleyan (Irwell Street) Circuit, later Salford (Pendleton) Wesleyan Circuit. A new church, Pendlebury Victoria Wesleyan, was opened in Bolton Road in 1904. The church was transferred to Salford (Swinton, Pendlebury and Pendleton) Methodist Circuit in 1954. In 1964 it was joined by the other Pendlebury societies - Bethel (ex-Primitive Methodist) and Happy Land - and became known as Pendlebury Methodist Church. The same year, the circuit was re-named Swinton Methodist Circuit.
