1868-1966
Archives
The first church was opened in 1836 in what was to become Warren Street, named after Dr Samuel Warren , leader of the separatist Wesleyan Association (from 1857 United Methodist Free Church). In 1853 it was re-built as a two-storey school-chapel, to which was added in 1864 a large vestry and a school building. The new church and school in Market Street opened in 1895. Initially part of the Manchester 1st United Methodist Free Church Circuit, the church joined Manchester (North East) United Methodist Circuit in 1910, then transferred to Manchester (Harpurhey) Methodist Circuit in 1936. The church closed in 1966.
