A mission room was opened in Chatham Street in 1876 as a branch of the Oxford Road Chapel. It became a society in its own right in 1887, but eventually reverted to mission status. It was a member of Manchester (Oxford Road) Wesleyan Circuit and its successor Manchester (Withington) Methodist Circuit until transferring to Manchester and Salford Mission in 1953. The mission closed in 1964

Rose, Honorary Methodist District Archivist, in 1997 by Revd Colin Cooper, Superintendent Minister, Withington Methodist Circuit (accession number: 1997/50) and in 2001 by D. Copley, Superintendent Minister, Manchester and Salford Methodist Mission, and E.A. Rose (accession numbers: 2001/11,2001/15). The marriage registers (ref:M275/1105/1-2) were transferred from the Methodist Archives and Research Centre, London, in 1977.
