Middleton Primitive Methodist Circuit

The circuit began as a branch of Manchester 1st Primitive Methodist Circuit. The branch was made into a circuit in 1872 and included churches at Middleton (Irk Street, later Morton Street, and Jumbo), Rhodes and Bowlee. The circuit continued much the same until 1950 when it was joined by former Wesleyan Methodist churches from Oldham (Manchester Street) Circuit: namely Middleton (Long Street), Middleton Junction and Rhodes (Manchester Old Road). Hebers, a former United Methodist church, also joined from Manchester (Harpurhey) Methodist Circuit. In 1970 Middleton Circuit amalgamated with Manchester (North East) Circuit to form Manchester (North) and Middleton Circuit.
