The church began as Levenshulme UMFC, Stockport Road in 1864. It was transferred to Stockport (Mount Tabor) United Methodist Circuit in 1907, then to Stockport (Tiviot Dale) Methodist Circuit in 1944. It made one further transfer to Manchester (South East) Methodist Circuit in 1964, then, in 1968, joined with Levenshulme ex-Wesleyan Methodist to form Levenshulme Methodist Church situated in Woodfold Avenue, off Stockport Road.
