In the early years the Manchester and Salford Mission attracted huge congregations, more than the Central Hall could accommodate. For over twenty years the Free Trade Hall in Manchester was used for the Sunday services, but the need for a permanent home led to the building of Albert Hall, which was opened in 1910. The later years saw a decline in the congregations and the subsequent closure of the hall in 1971. Its society joined with Central Hall.
