Festivals and other events

The records of queerupnorth's artistic programmes consist of promotional materials, newscuttings and artist's files. The format of these programmes have changed down the years. After festivals from 1992-1994, queerupnorth changed to a biennial festival format, which it maintained until 2002. In 1995 and 1997 there were brief seasons of work, but largely only as tasters for the full 1996 and 1998 festivals. In 1999 there was no queerupnorth events beyond their involvement with 'Chunky Move', presented as part of Manchester's International Theatre Season in the autumn of that year (see M800/4/3/2). From 2002-2004 queerupnorth focussed on seasons of work and individual performances (it had, in any case, often used this format alongside its longer festival format). In 2005 queerupnorth returned to a festival format, to be presented on an annual basis. As at 2007 this remained the format. queerupnorth also varied the timing of the festival with a late summer/early autumn date, adopted in 1992-1994, and 2000, being traded for a spring festival in 1998 and 2005-2007.
