The company was formed in 1921 to take over Brampton Brothers Ltd.'s interest in their works in Calais, established in 1898. There was also a French selling organisation, Societe Commerciale des Produits Brampton, S.A., based in Paris (later Brampton-Renold, S.A., of Neuilly-sur-Seine). The two companies merged in 1966 to form Brampton Renold. The Calais works produced munitions during the First World War. It was under German control during the Second World War.

Ltd. for loan of Cincinnati grinding machine, 1947; reports of visits to Calais works, by Arthur Brampton, 1950, and Sous Prefet, Pas de Calais, 1956.
