Villages

M2002 Villages existed for the purpose of providing services to competing athletes and officials with the aim of enhancing their overall Commonwealth Games experience.

There were 3 centres to the villages:

· Commonwealth Games Village

· Shooting Village

· Technical Officials Village

The objectives of these villages was to provide secure accommodation and services to individual athletes and officials to enhance their stay in their respective village and city. The Villages also offered a range of services designed to assist the Chef de Mission for each Commonwealth Games Association in the management of their delegation.

The Commonwealth Games Village was situated at the Fallowfield Campus of the University of Manchester, approximately 3 miles from the centre of the city. The Shooting Village was situated at the University of Surrey, approximately 11 miles from the National Shooting Centre at Bisley. The Technical Officials Village was located in student accommodation close to Manchester city centre.
