Tan Hui Min (disc 9 'Tam Wai-Ming'): Came to England in the early 2000s with husband who was studying for his Phd at the Manchester University. He got a job in Huddersfield and they settled. She is from Tianjin and is a qualified mechanical engineer. Her father forced her to study it because of the Cultural Revolution, where literature and arts were censored so he ensured she studied a science. She didn't speak any English when she came and worked as a cleaner in a school. Then, when the Manchester Chinese Centre opened, she came to work as a teacher.
