Volume entitled 'Westhoughton School Records 1769'. Starts with 'A Word of Intelligence to a new Trustee' about the svhool being built in 1739 by Rev. Robert Harvey. Lists deeds (as L122/8/2/1-10) whereby the Orchard and Garden and two pews were left to provide a salary for the schoolmaster. Continues with 'Statutes and Constitutions... 28. Dec. 1769; trust accounts, Oct. 1768-Dec. 1771, Mar. 1819- Dec. 1856, including building three cottages on land called the Park, 1837, and proceeds from the sale of the workhouse, 1849; trustees agreements to the statutes, and Minutes, 6 Sept. 1788- 7 Dec. 1888; 1859 minutes include agreement to accept Mr. Penk's tender for new building, 1 Jun (see L122/8/11/1-19) and desire to merge privileges of the old school with the new one being erected, 28 Dec.; trustees' agreements, 5 June 1891, to accept office under Charity Commissioners' Scheme of 27 Aug. 1890.
