Also release, dated 21 Jan 1840, of the same by the same parties to the use of the following term trustees: William Langton, banker; Thomas Hornby Birley, manufacturer; William Yates Caister, gentleman, all of Manchester in trust for parties (1) and (2) listed above, and Thomas Townend, Absalom Watkin, George Freeland Barbour, David Ainsworth, Samuel Stocks the younger and James Dugdale.
The terms and conditions of the trust and the purpose of the institution to be known as the Athenaeum are set out, a plan of the site is given and the Directors and Shareholders sign their names in appended schedules.
