Poor rate 1821 3/- in the £ 24 June 1821. 'An assessment for the necessary relief of the Poor and other purposes in the several acts of Parliament mentioned relating to the Poor, for the Township of Ardwick, being the first rate of Three shillings in the Pound for 1821.' Published in St. Thomas's Chapel, Ardwick, the 24th day of June 1821 by Thomas Aldcroft, Clerk. Columns give owner, occupier, description of property, assessment, amount of rate, amount received, empty, appeals etc., outstanding, remarks. Arranged by streets. Signed by two J.P's. A later section includes amounts paid in arrears and outstanding. No index. 770 properties included, total sum raised £951.3s. out of a rate levied of £1,587.3s.
