'An assessment for the Relief of the Poor of the Township of Gorton, in the City of Manchester, and for other purposes thereon, according to Law, made by virtue of the Statute or Statutes in that behalf, this Twenty-fourth day of June, One Thousand nine hundred and ten, after the Rate of
Ten Shillings in the Pound
On buildings and other hereditaments not being Agricultural land, including a differential rate of one shilling in the Pound in accordance with the provisions of Section 34 (1) of the Manchester Corporation Act, 1909, on Agricultural land at 2s 10½d in the Pound for Poor Rate purposes, including half the amount in the Pound of the said differential Rate; at 4s 1d in the Pound for Sanitary purposes, and 2d in the Pound for Manchester Ship Canal Rate, such Poor Rate being estimated to meet all the expenses for the above-mentioned purposes which will be incurred before 24th day of June 1911'.
The township of Gorton is divided into North and South wards for this rate and after the main rate there are lists of additional assessments for these two wards, assessments for railways, agricultural land and also a list of general assessments. Following the summary there are alterations made by the Chorlton Union Assessments Committee. These are followed by lists headed 'As per Overseers Minutes'; each list is for a different date.
