Papers relating to changes in Society deeds

1910-1912
Archives
File contains papers relating to the changes desired by the Refuge to their previous deed in 1887. Recent legislation had effectively removed any homeless and destitute children from the street, resulting in the objects of the Refuge, made in 1887, being unworkable. Consequently the Refuge was keen to extend them but appear unwilling to go through the Charity Commission. The file includes two documents from Mr Maberly and A. Adams, a Lincoln Inn Lawyer, who commentated on the futility of this method. Further correspondence is then included between George H Charlesworth, Honorary Solicitor for the Society and A. E. Mclaren from the Charity Commission. It also includes correspondence with Barnardo's and the National Children's Home and Orphanage regarding their dealings with the Charity Commission as well as a pamphlet on Charity Accounts for the years 1890-1891.
