File contains newspaper cuttings on Belmont Estate that were written in response to the Curtis Report of 1946. This had been established to look into the care of children and had produced a report that had shocked the country. The result was a radical change in child care methods and the recommendation for the setting up of departments of local authorities, which were to be responsible for fostering and adoption, child care, family casework and children's homes. These newspaper cuttings gave Belmont as an example of how children's homes should be run.
