File containing papers regarding the military takeover of the Birkdale camp from 23rd Dec 1916- 8th Jan 1917. The camp was to be used for instructional accommodation and grenade and signalling work by the soldiers. The Refuge initially requested rent for the camp but this was refused by the military authorities who demanded its use for free.
