Eugenia' was premiered with considerable success in New Zealand in 1996. The play explores the life and times of a woman who lived in Wellington at the beginning of the century. Eugenia Martelli lived as a man, married a woman and was accused of murder. The play, written by Lorae Parry and directed by Cathy Downes, had its European premiere at queerupnorth's 1998 season, where it was presented at the Library Theatre from Wednesday 6-Saturday 9 May.
