Duckie', described as 'London's authentic Honky Tonk for gaylords and ladies', came to Manchester as the opening night party of queerupnorth's 1998 festival. Amy Lame, 'The Stuart Alexander Experience', Marisa Carr and 'the Reader's Wifes' joined forces in a celebration of the work of the film director, John Waters. The event took place at 'Club Underground' at UMIST on Friday 1 May 1998.
