Resident Alien' was a monologue written by Tim Fountain and performed by Bette Bourne, the creator of the legendary Bloolips queer comedy troupe who had recently been cast as Lady Bracknell in English Touring Theatre's production of 'The Importance of Being Earnest'. 'Resident Alien' was set in Quentin Crisp's famously cramped and dusty New York bedsit, where the 'last, great stately homo of England' awaited his latest visitors. The play received its world premiere at the Bush Theatre, London on 10 November 1999 and came to Manchester as part of queerupnorth's 2000 season where it was presented at the Library Theatre from Tuesday 5-Saturday 9 September.
