Custodial history:
The collection belonged to Valerie Karn who was a Professor of Housing Studies at the University of Manchester. When the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre opened in 1999 Valerie donated a portion of this collection to be archived. The remainder of the material was donated to the Centre when Valerie died later in the same year.Catalogue created: 2008Catalogue revised: Jun 2018
Initially listed in 2008. The papers arrived in two separate accessions and were completely unsorted. A structure was created and items were given a reference number based on our library system (i.e. VK/O/C/28). The catalogue was reviewed in 2018. The basic structure from 2008 was retained but items within the structure moved to being listed in chronological order. Items have been re-numbered (swapping the library number for an archive number i.e. GB3228.3/1/1) and repackaged.
